Will compressing an image reduce its quality?
Some quality loss is expected with lossy compression (JPG and WebP). Use the quality slider to balance file size against visual quality.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API, so image data never leaves your device.
Why doesn't the quality slider do much for PNG files?
PNG is a lossless format, so browsers don't apply a quality setting to it. If you need a smaller file and can accept some quality loss, try converting to JPG or WebP instead.
Is a specific size reduction guaranteed?
No. The actual reduction depends on the image itself and the quality level you choose — the tool shows you the real before/after size rather than a promised percentage.
